Volunteering opportunities with The Prince Charles Hospital Foundation are mostly based in Brisbane. These opportunities include joining the Charlie's Angels, a group of volunteers who dedicate their time to support patients, families and carers at The Prince Charles Hospital and volunteering to scoop the iconic Strawberry Sundaes at the Ekka.
The Charlie’s Angels Volunteers are a group of local community members who dedicate their time to support patients, families, carers and staff at The Prince Charles Hospital. Wearing their yellow shirts with pride, they support all areas of the hospital from admissions to emergency, performing a range of roles from welcoming visitors to providing administration support.
The Charlie's Angels Volunteers are proudly sponsored by Kedron Wavell Services Club.
As you’ll be aware this year’s Royal Queensland Show has been cancelled due to the public gathering restrictions implemented by Federal Government in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Ensuring the health and safety of the Ekka community and the general public is paramount and we fully support the decision to cancel this year’s event.
The iconic Strawberry Sundae is not only an Ekka tradition, it also generates significant funding for critical medical research at The Prince Charles Hospital with over 4000 hours funded last year. I’m sure we can all agree medical research is more relevant now than ever before, yet this crucial funding stream has been turned off.
For 30 years, The Prince Charles Hospital Foundation has brought the iconic Strawberry Sundaes to the Royal Brisbane Show to raise money for medical research. Each year over 2,000 volunteers help us make this the best event of the year.
