The Great Strawberry Jam Rebrand

Strawberry jam has a new name and continues to help medical research

As the saying goes, when life gives you lemons, make lemonade! Or in the case of the last-minute cancellation of the Ekka last year, make tonnes of strawberries destined for the iconic Strawberry Sundaes into yummy strawberry jam!

This is exactly what the Lang family of Lang’s Gourmet did. Utilising the sweetest local strawberries, their now famous strawberry jam was born. It was an instant success with Brisbane locals keen to get their hands on a jar.

Now called ‘That Strawberry Jam’, it has a wonderful, handmade, old fashioned quality. It is not hard to see why, all Lang’s Gourmet products are made using locally sourced Australian ingredients and are proudly 100% gluten free and free of preservatives and artificial colours. They are made in Capalaba by the family owned and run company.

This year, “That Strawberry Jam’ was so successful that they’ve generously donated over $2,400 (supporting 51 hours of medical research) from the proceeds made to continue funding The Common Good medical research!

What’s so special about ‘That Strawberry Jam’?

Every jar sold supports medical research

Just like The Common Good’s Ekka Strawberry Sundaes raise vital funds for medical research, so does the sale of ‘That Strawberry Jam’.

For every jar of the famous jam sold, a percentage of profits are donated to The Common Good (an initiative of The Prince Charles Hospital Foundation). The funds go directly to medical research in the areas of lung disease, heart disease, dementia and mental health.

Last year, Lang’s Gourmet raised an incredible $10,000 for The Common Good, or the equivalent of over 200 hours of medical research that will help our community live longer, healthier lives.

More than just Strawberry Jam

While the ‘That Strawberry Jam’ is of course our particular favourite, Lang’s Gourmet have a huge range of over 30 delicious products including jams, chutneys, mustards, BBQ sauces and dressings.  Why not try their very Queensland Pineapple Rum Jam!

Where you can grab a jar of ‘That Strawberry Jam’

To find out your nearest seller of Lang’s Gourmet products, visit the Lang’s Gourmet website or order it online. The Common Good’s Café for The Common Good at The Prince Charles Hospital is also selling the jam.

The hardest decision is whether to put the jam or the cream on your scone first. Surely it is the Cornish who have the correct order here!

Want to support the iconic Ekka Strawberry Sundae tradition in other ways?

it isn’t too late to sign up to The Common Good’s Ekka Strawberry Sundae stalls! Every year, it takes over 2,000 dedicated volunteers to operate these stalls. Interested? You can register for a shift here.

All volunteers receive a free pass to the Ekka, and a free Strawberry Sundae as a thank you!
