Golfing for Good: Inaugural Shine Lawyers Charity Golf Day Drives Donations

The inaugural Shine Lawyers Charity Golf Day was a great day out, successfully driving donations and support for The Common Good’s 2022 Giving Day.

Businesses from across South East Queensland stepped onto the green for a four-ball Ambrose Competition at Pacific Harbour Golf and Country Club at Banksia Beach on October 28.

Some of the 144 players were very experienced, while others had never held a club. However, no matter their skill level, all golfers worked hard to drive their balls as far as possible and drive support for The Common Good.

“We were honoured to be the charity beneficiary and delighted that Shine Lawyers managed to raise nearly $19,000. Not only did they demonstrate their commitment to the community we represent but they also appeared to have engaged the weather God’s to create the perfect day for golf! Thank you, Craig Oliver, Legal Practice Manager, and colleagues at Shine for a wonderful day. We look forward to 2023!” said Mick Dwane, The Common Good General Manager of Community Fundraising.

Funds raised on Giving Day this year will support hospital innovation and patient care at Caboolture Hospital and The Prince Charles Hospital. In particular, donations will help to fund crucial patient-focused programs and projects to assist older people in our communities to recover faster, leave hospital sooner and regain their independence quicker.

Shine Lawyers is one of the first corporate partners to jump on board as a Matched Giver this Giving Day. This means that funds raised from the Shine Lawyers Golf Day will be used to double public donations on November 30, meaning double the impact for critical projects.

“We are incredibly grateful for the continued support of Shine Lawyers, and everyone is determined to double the funds raised at the golf day for maximum impact for our hospital patients,” said Dwane.

Shine Lawyers will be sending teams of corporate volunteers to both Caboolture Hospital and The Prince Charles Hospital for Giving Day on November 30.

“Shine Lawyers is proud to support The Common Good and we hope funds raised from the golf day and on Giving Day will help to make a difference to the lives of older members of the community,” Craig Oliver, Legal Practice Manager at Shine Lawyers.
