Charlie’s Fitness Challenge 2022: Winners Revealed

On Wednesday, November 30, there was a show of athleticism and sporting prowess at the Charlie’s Fitness Challenge.

The competition, hosted by the TPCH Physio department, was held on Giving Day 2022. It saw hospital teams, army personnel and fitness fanatics sign up to show off their skills and break a sweat.

And the participants didn’t disappoint. Their competitive spirit, strength and skill drew a crowd and entertained the masses outside The Café for The Common Good.

There were three separate competitions within the challenge. 1. Rivalry on the rowing machine, 2. A battle to be the best at burpees, and 3. Pairs showcasing the strength of their pins.

Army personnel from the 8/9 RAR joined in on the activities and really pushed other competitors to their limits. Their level of fitness and form impressed the onlookers and other challenge participants.

The LSKD street team were also on hand to witness the action and showcase their wares, with a new LSKD store which opened locally this month at Westfield Chermside.

As a surprise entry to the Charlie’s Fitness Challenge, Trevor Gillmeister, aka The Axe, jumped on rower to contribute a few kilometres of effort to his team’s total distance.

“Overall it was a fantastic day. Lots of people jumped in and had a go. We even had teams from the engineering department! Having the Army there was also a great way to get people involved – they definitely made it more competitive!” said Alison Gregoria, Physiotherapist, TPCH.

“The enthusiasm from the staff was incredible and it was such a great vibe with the music and teams cheering each other on.” said Alison Gregoria, Physiotherapist, TPCH.
