TPCH Foundation Review of Research Funding Program
Purpose and Overview
The Prince Charles Hospital (TPCH) Foundation was established in 1986 and has funded medical research and patient care activities at TPCH ever since. In 2018 the Foundation’s support was expanded to the Caboolture Hospital, Kilcoy Hospital and Woodford Corrections Directorate (CKW). Our research focus is People Powering Medical Discoveries. You can learn more about our mission, values and governance here.
As part of ongoing evaluation of activities, TPCH Foundation is undertaking a review of our research grant funding program, and we need your help. We are currently in the information-gathering phase, seeking broad feedback from across TPCH and CKW, and want your thoughts on the role the Foundation plays in supporting research, and the grant schemes it offers. Your feedback will be taken into consideration when planning our future strategic directions for funding medical research.
TPCH Foundation 3-Year Funding Summary
All our research grant schemes, patient care and hospital support programs align with our mission and values, which allows the Foundation to go back out to potential donors to bring in more funding. In addition, we act as an administering institution for external grants and other tied funds. The current survey specifically relates to funds distributed under the TPCH Foundation Research Grant Program, which we disburse via our grant schemes through an open application process.

Scope of the Funding Program Review
The review will be focused on TPCH Foundation’s research grants program only (reference row 3 of the above table). A key focus of the Foundation’s current grants is to provide entry-level assistance to Novice Investigators who wish to learn research skills, and a pathway to support the transition to Early and Mid-Career.
Confidentiality
TPCH Foundation will de-identify, review and group responses into themes, which will be taken to a workshop with TPCH and CKW Research Councils for discussion. De-identified general comments may also be shared. A document summarising the outcomes will be broadly distributed following the conclusion of the review.
For those who are willing to provide contact details, you may be contacted by the Foundation to discuss your responses. This is voluntary, if you wish you can remain anonymous.
